Overview

Since 2016, I have planned and conducted human-centered design research and qualitative studies through Forage Insights Studio, a design consultancy specializing in play and entertainment (preschool & K-12), health and well-being, and education. I am driven by helping design, engineering, UX, and marketing teams better understand their end-users and keep them at the center of their work. I conduct both generative and evaluative research, and have worked with clients to design, test, develop, and improve over 100 physical products, digital experiences, and in-person services.

I employ a wide range of research methods in this work—including ethnography and observation, contextual inquiry, in-depth interviewing, usability testing, iterative prototypes, surveys, and diary studies—and tailor plans to respond continuously to clients’ and research participants’ needs. I specialize in projects that involve large amounts of data from multiple sources, creative approaches, open-ended discovery, and participatory design.

After synthesizing learnings from research, I deliver distilled strategies and next steps, which challenge clients to reconsider their assumptions and better meet the needs of end-users and other stakeholders. In all of my work, my goal is to produce insights that enable clients to create products and solutions that are intuitive, easy to adopt, and fit with how end-users think about their worlds and live their daily lives.
